Where did the time go?

I have been a busy bee. I started this little project in 2023, got busy, and then forgot about it. I originally started this blog on a hosted Wordpress site. I am not impressed with my former host. I am not particularly amused with the antics going around with Wordpress, nevermind that it's a nightmare to manage and maintain.

I finally got around to shutting down the old blog, turning off anything resembling an automatic renewal, and harvesting the content for re-publishing.

I've been keeping myself busy, as I mentioned, and one of the things I've been doing over the last year is exploring The Fedora Project as a new contributor. We write some of our documentation in Markdown at work, and writing docs with the folks at Fedora introduced me to AsciiDoc. They use Antora to make their cool docs pages, and I had wondered to myself if I could write a blog using Markdown or AsciiDoc. It turns out that the mkdocs-material project has a blog module, so that's what you're seeing here.

Instead of having to keep up with this beast of a content management system, I can just write individual posts in Markdown and let the software generate static HTML content. I then, in turn, push that content into my webroot, and here you go. I have a nice little Fedora webserver running in my Proxmox cluster in my homelab, and you're getting to that content by way of the super geniuses over at CloudFlare. I didn't even have to open any ports at my network boundary for this little experiment.

Cool, huh?

Anyways, I still plan on writing more cool stuff eventually. We'll see how things go.

Oh, and we adopted a dog last year, too. She keeps me very busy. :)
